The 6th Spirit of Bandung 2024: Collaboration of University Southeast Asia – China
In the year of 1955, the Asian-African Conference was successfully held in Bandung City, the Republic of Indonesia and formed the spirit on unity, friendship, and cooperation. Hereafter, it has become an important initiation in building solidarity among International Relations. Confucius Institute of Universitas Kristen Maranatha (Maranatha Christian University) is located in Bandung City, a place of a turning point in the world history took place, the Asian-African Conference.
“Spirit of Bandung” is the International Academic Forum that was founded by Confucius Institute (CI) of Maranatha Christian University. Spirit of Bandung is a Biennial Forum that has started in 2013 to carry forward the spirit to promote mutual understanding, communication, and cooperation between different cultures, and to build a bridge of friendship in the hearts of the people.
The fifth Spirit of Bandung forum in 2022 was held in the "new normal" era after the Covid-19 pandemic shifted the behavior of the global community to be "all-online". This has resulted in increased digital literacy and dependence on digital platforms, until now.
In the midst of digital transformation and globalization, local wisdom should not be marginalized in the development and advancement of science, technology and art. Local wisdom remains important to maintain cultural identity and strengthen digital progress, especially to build a prosperous society and a healthy environment.
In 2024, the Confucius Institute of Maranatha Christian University is proud to present the 6th Spirit of Bandung forum. This event coincides with the anniversary of Bandung, which is celebrated every September 25, as well as the anniversary of Confucius.
This coinciding celebration makes the event more meaningful for educators, technologists, business people and others to gather and contribute ideas that will explore how the integration of local wisdom into digital transformation can drive prosperous communities and a healthy environment.
